What is it that ticks for you?

Once again, i revisit the topic of watches. It is going to be one of the subjects that are not going to leave my life - a man's obsession. Some indulge in expensive cars,  some indulge in the other finer things in life, but to each his own. To me, a watch means alot more than a fashion accessory, it is essentially a device that measures one of the most important matter in life - time. One's life starts and end with time, and for a machine that does its best to give you the most accurate account of important moments in life, would definitely sit in a very special place in one's life.  While it may seem anachronistic when there are so many modern inventions that could Measure time More immaculately that we still indulge in inefficient and potentially ineffective ways of reading time, the fact that there are still people who produce these devices in the most traditional way possible and the existence of willing acquirers proved that we have not changed at all in the way that we appreciate time. Maybe the only thing that have change is in the way that we feel about time, but i digress. It baffles me sometime that something as delicate and complex as a mechanical watch could be made - and as omega aptly said it "some movements are so perfect, you'd hardly think they were made by humans" perfectly describe the way i feel about watches. While some watches are priced much more than a person could ever set eyes on, they are items of desire that many man that have made it would mark their life with - they are a symbol of phases in life, and they are a symbol of your appreciation of yourself. And while there are many other things that could symbolize success, a good mechanical watch serves it's purpose to measure time (of your success, of the birth of your child, of your anniversary) all the while beating along with you. It is a device made with much passion, made to be precise, and to perform as everlasting as possible, it is a symbol of how a successful persn should be. To me, being able to own a good mechanical watch (of a brand that you aspire, or best represents you) is a privilege, one that I consider to be a sign that I probably have done something right in my life.
