Ninja Assassin!
Since everyone watched 2012 already except me, and obviously there are guys, so new moon was definitely out of the list. It's like guys watching women's tennis match - not for tennis but for the girls. Well, let's not go there.
So finally we decided on ninja assassin starring the oh soooo hot rain... Although seriously, with that hairstyle, he looks like liu kang in mortal kombat... Which chicks don't dig. Anyway, since it was directed by the director of matrix (the wachowski bros if I've not mistaken) obviously the fight scene was... Spectacular... Apart from the lousy blood animations.. I thought b-grade movies have better looking blood.
The intro starts with sung kang (you would remember him from tokyo drift) getting a tattoo, with a bunch of japanese yakuzas in the room trash talking in english. I mean give me break.. At least have a few scenes in japanese, cos why would yakuzas want to converse in english among themselves?? Seriously? Anyway the rest of the guys in the room are pretty much lousy actors who can't even fake a decent laughter
And I was thinking... Ninjas are supposed to be japanese. Not koreans.
Anyway, it was a good movie overall, you may even say its a good comedy, but nothing's gonna be right in a hollywood flick when 60% of the cast are asians, because I think that when they took up the role they probably didn't understand how bad the script was. Or maybe, their agents are asians too who's not too good with english. They'd be saying to the their clients "whatever man! Hey, its hollywood!"
The lines are unexpectedly cheesy, or maybe it was the caucasian director's effort to make the movie more impactful... "Well at least people don't end up feeling like they just got out of jackie chan movie" cos nobody (even asians) understand jackie right?
The adrenaline rush is there, there's a plot and a storyline that flow thru, typical but at least you know, you don't come out puzzled at the end of the movie.. Which was good.
Its the typical hero learns martial arts, but master was too strict and killed the girl, hero gets angry, left the clan, being hunted by hundreds of minions but never get killed, then became stronger, meets his former friend-turned-foe and faces off and kills him before he gets to meet the boss, which he wastes half his life using useless methods to kill him but in vain, until he unleash his ultimate moves.
It's funny how that's really interesting, cos at first you feel alittle bit for the hero, and then the feeling starts to build up and by the end u get really really angry and when the boss was killed u get that feel good sensation.
I'd give 3 out of 5 stars for this movie
