Movies from the past

My ranking of my top fave movies of all time! (in no particular order!)

1. Big (1988). One movie that almost made me cry when I watched it. Although I only watched it once when I guess I was about 11 or so, I'll never forget this movie because this movie captures the innosence of youth beautifully. Starring Tom Hanks, this is one movie about a kid who wished he was an adult and he became one the next day. Definitely a must watch retro movie.

2. It (1990). The movie that haunted every 80's children's sleepless nights.. truly memorable. the movie that every 10 or 11 kids watched on TV2 on a two episode run of the movie hehe.. the scariest show that was on tv in the early nineties. I'll never forget it.. watched it twice last year when someone shared it on the intranet in hostel.

3. Alan and Eric Between Hello and Goodbye (Seung Sing Gusi) (1991). Acted by Alan Tam and Eric Tsang, this movie is the most western Hong Kong movies I've ever seen, the movie is slightly dark due to the fact that most Hong Kong 80's movies are filmed in such quality. However, this movie is really touching, romantic and it revolves around the friendship and love of 3 persons (eric, alan and maggie cheung).

4. The Indian In The Cupboard (1995). I watched this movie with my parents when Laser Disc was still the only thing that provided the best sound and visual at that time.. haha.. This is another touching kid movie that I have loved because it was so magical.. one day a boy puts a plastic figurine of an indian warrior given by his grandma, it turns into a real indian..

5. The Green Mile (1999). The Green Mile is a masterwork. This is film as art, at it's very best. The depth of the cast is extraordinary, with all of the players delivering excellent performances. There is a clear sense here that all involved in the production knew that this was something special, and gave it their all. See this film if you truly enjoy actors giving everything to their craft. Watch for the countless subtleties of expression, and the great power that the cast creates with silence. This is evident in the opening sequence and remains throughout. Above all, Michael Duncan as John Coffey is exceptional. He brings gripping emotion to a unique, fascinating character. This movie brings you laughter, joy, and most of all, tears.

6. Big Fish (2003). An adventure as big as life itself, this story tells us about the exagerating stories Ed Bloom (Jude Law) told his son, in which his son grew bored and tired of listening to stories that he wasn't sure were real but soon found out that the stories turned out to be true but just in a eccentric manner. Very artistic and full of meaning.

7. Bicentennial Man (1999). Another movie that made me cry, another movie I watched with my parents, and another movie I watched on LD haha. This story is about a 200 years journey of becoming a human. Robin Williams played a robot maid who's capabilities were improved in his life from a robot into a perfect human being. All his life, he wants to feel what it is like to be a human, and in the end he realized that well, things change, things always change. People move on. It's as it should be. But, what he realized today is that he'll never stop missing them.

8. Fight Club (1999). All time favourite! Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are two of the best actors in the world.. Fighting is the new pink and fighting is the new therapy. No one talks about fight club and always remember the 8 rules. Today's assignment: Project Mayhem. Listed in the 250 best movies ever made in the world, I consider this dark movie, funny, thrilling, scary, sad, angry and the need to punch and to be punch, so tempting.

9. Nothing to Lose (1997). A comedy starring Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence, this story talks about Tim Robbins who saw his boss fucking his wife, and he kind of gave his life up and met Martin Lawrence who was trying to rob him. He gradually turned into a robber just like Lawrence and they both end up in really funny and dangerous adventures. Lawrence's character has a tragic life, he had tertiary education background but due to some issues he isn't employed and has to rob to earn a living. Robbins was really angry, towards the end he found out that it wasn't his wife that his boss fucked, and he has to erase everything he secretly did to insult his boss. Definitely worth watching.

10. Finding Forrester (2000). Jamal Wallace is a star basketball player in his neighborhood, and unbeknownst to his peers, he also has a gift for writing. The acceptance he needs from his friends, however, that need to `fit in,' is derived from playing ball; yet his heart is in his writing. But he knows that within the limited confines of his environs his skill with the written word means next to nothing in regards to his future, and he sees basketball as the only viable means of doing anything worthwhile with his life. That is, until one day circumstances bring him into contact with William Forrester (Sean Connery); and it's an encounter that ultimately changes the direction of his life forever.

11. The Green Mile (1999). Oh I think this movie is famous enough for me to not mention what's it about. I watched this movie for 3 times and everytime I watch it I'd feel like crying and damn freaking wish I could bash up all the baddies in the show.. haha.. a sad but beautiful ending.. a movie that will never fail in my list of top movies.

12. Dragon The Bruce Lee Story (1993). Jason Scott Lee plays Bruce Lee and the movie tells us the story of the legendary Bruce Lee from the day he was born, his teenage years in US, his battle with his spiritual fear, his illness, his acting career, his martial arts histories and finally his death. A good show I'd say, though not the best.

13. Snake In The Eagle's Shadow (1978). I can still remember watching this movie when I was standard 5 on a Sunday afternoon after lunch with my dad. This movie is funny, sad, entertaining and action packed. But a little old school and very typical make-you-angry-kaw-kaw-and-then-release-all-the-anger-to-the-people-who-bullied-you-earlier kind of movie. Anyway any Jackie's old show are fine with me.

14. Bill And Ted: Excellent Adventure (1988) and Bogus Adventure (1990). Both of these movies are one of my childhood favourite, starring Keanu Reeves. You'd never expect him in these movies haha. Anyway I've been a big fan of the cartoon and I've been dying to find a partner when I was in primary school who could play the air guitar with me haha. I wish I had the phone booth so I could change things that I wanted to.

15. Last But Not Least Click (2006). Guess I really don't have to write anything here right? haha this movie made me almost cry.

I love all Owen Wilson, Adam Sandler, Jackie Chan, Brad Pitt movies but listed here are the best movies I have ever seen that are memorable enough for me to mention their titles here. And by the way the movies I stated here are movies that are already 10+ years old except for click.

I should be studying now, and I will after I post this one! haha.. Anyway Exams are such a drag! Why do they wanna have exams anyway?? having exams mean that students are merely memorizing and just spill out everything from the books to the papers = not learning anything. Just memorizing. They should emphasize more on assignments and allocate about 70% on assignments! haha.. What I said are partly true, and the real fact is, I've started my studies really last minute and this thought came to me to prove that ''its my fault, I shouldn't be this lazy in the first place'' so I guess no point having sympathy on me, if you're feeling me already. Chiaoz, hope my post could remind you of the movies of your younger days.

Transitions 2002-2004

Ahh.. just got back from the library not long ago.. so before I sleep .. I'll make another post.. heheh.. While I was viewing my band photos in my multiply, all those memories ran thru my mind.. oh.. those sweet memories.. I can still so sharply remember how many gigs we've played and which gig was the most gempak one.. I can still feel the LCC trophy that we won way back in 2003 heheh and I still can recall how many drum sticks Matt broke in ICE MUSIC PARADISE, how many 1st strings I snapped and how many times me, nic, and ken played the wrong keys during performance.. haha.. Just wanna shout out to all my RHC mates that there isn't one second that I have regretted being in the band. 2002 - 2004 have been the greatest time of my life. Now RHC is kinda like in hiatus haha. I really so damn hope all of us can reunite and be like the then RHC.
LCC 2003 was the highlight of RHC when we won the band category and we beat TF! haha.. here are some photos from

Always All Ways (Apologies, Glances and Messed Up Chances)

Today is definitely another shitty day for me.. I just feel so down with my amount of luck.. maybe I should just hunt for some The Eye of Etlich Amulet or some charm that could increase my luck to +8 or 9 perhaps? argh.. I just couldn't guess that my luck could be so shitty. I wonder if the guy (God?) who decides who should get more luck could cut me some slack.

Shit already got shittier when I had to repurchase my airtickets, and followed by a few more unlucky events and now I just have to shit luck AGAIN. This evening was judgement day. I have to meet Dr Ali for presentation and what we had to do is to show him the cd that we have all our assignments kept in and he'll simply choose 1 document from that cd and asked you some questions

<------------ This is Dr Ali

So.. before we meet him it is obvious that we should have prepared by reading thru the documents (in my case, I have 5 journal articles in my cd). To my surprise, 2 of my articles were corrupted and I can't open the PDF file (it wasn't like this before this). I was kinda worried.. If I hadn't compellingly reformat my damn bloody PC (another shitty luck event) I could have rewrite my cd with my backup files. So I had no choice and the thought of finding new articles to replace the two old ones would have taken a long time and I would have to re-read the new articles. So I had no choice but to let him find out himself later that the two files cant be open and I'll show him the "it-wasn't-like-this-just-now" and raise my eye brows a little more than usual to show my innocentness.. so I guess I'd just read thru and memories some of the keywords from the 3 articles. It was all so well planned.

3.30 and I barely finished reading any of the journals. At that time I was kind of worried already but Ah Yang was supposed to pick all of us up and he wanted to leave early.. so at that point of time I was reallyyyyy worried and nervous. But fortunately all of us were.. haha. So.. the group presentation went well cos we managed to crap every shit out of our brain. Then came the individual presentation. The call of justice. Its my turn.. so I went in and hope everything goes as planned.

Dr Ali then asked me to look at the article that he chose.. to my fucking surprise.. the article that I can't open CAN be opened on his computer!! I was like "fuck! god fucking bless me please!".. I was so damn freaking nervous so I told him.. "I don't recall reading this article" he was kinda dissapointed he said "ok.. I'll give you another chance.. I'll choose another one and if you still can't answer I'll kick you out of the room" so I said ok.. He chose another one.. and it turned out to be the other document that I can't open and it CAN be opened on his stupid freaking damn computer! You tell me is that shit luck or what? And the whole presentation turned out like fuck. So you can guess.. He finally said "you better score very well for your final exam"..

I was so worried but his words may mean a million thing. His words have underlying meanings... you'll never know what he means.. but all I know I gotta really study hard for this subject or I'll get shit results just like how today's presentation has turned out to be.

Luck!! wherever you are.. please come back to me.. I'm counting on you!! haha.. Oh and I need some wisdom too.. I'm too dumb and my brain can't take in so many things at once.. I can't memorize everything!! ahhh! damn all this shit!

Susan Wong - Just A Little Bossa Nova CD Review

This is definitely an album you wanna listen to relax or when ur at a bar or cafe or at the beach. Susan Wong covers 13 songs and turned them into jazz tracks. The song selection is very good, cos she sings all the songs that are famous a few decades ago which still sound nice (evergreen songs). However, not all the songs are presented very well but overall the CD is definitely a must buy for Jazz fan, she has a very pleasant voice and the music arrangements are perfect though some covers are not as nice as the original ones, for example Beatles' And I Love her wasn't played very well, it sounds ok but a little weird. However, most of the songs are sang very well and the best songs on the record are the cover of Bee Gees' Emotion, Billy Joel's Just The Way You Are, John Lennon's Imagine, Frank Sinatra's Somewhere Beyond The Sea and All The Way and George Michael's Kissing a Fool. This album is definitely worth buying. I can't find her profile although I searched thru Google.. She looks young and pretty however her voice sounds rather older, and I feel that she sounds a little French, the way she pronounce some words.

I'll rate the album 4/5
Great Vocals
Great Songs
Great Music

1. The Look of Love
2. Girl From Ipanema
3. Emotion
4. And I Love Her
5. Somewhere Beyond The Sea
6. All The Way
7. The Shadow of Your Smile
8. Just The Way You Are
9. Imagine
10. Desafinado
11. Get Here
12. If
13. Kissing a Fool

Some shots

Oh yeah I figured that I should also post up some photos I've taken using my friend's dad's Olympus camera.. I tried to shoot some artistic shots but thats just my first try.. anyway they are taken on the same week as my sis's bday and you can also view it here (http://jules85.multiply.com). Assignments and that damn ntfs have taken up almost all of my time i had earlier so I wasted the day without studying.. Oh damn time is running out I hope I'll still maintain second upper end of this trimester.. here are some.. I'm still saving some money up and I'll be cooking for myself for the rest of this 3 damn weeks.. cos I still need more money for my backpacking trip.. I shall update this blog with the food I cook when I cook haha..

Time is running out!

Guess I just gotta rush things again..

By the way, MALAYSIA ROCKS!

Happy belated birthday sis!

The past few weeks have been the worst in my life.. I've been losing money for some petty mistakes and score low on mid terms, bla bla bla and now at 4.56 I'm formatting my bloody damn computer with my housemates aggravating me cos my ntsf.sys has been corrupted. Fuck Bill Gates man! yeah! Your computers are never bug free and they are always so shitty!

Oh enough of that.. I borrowed my housemates camera to snap photos of my family on my sis's 24th birthday.. had lots of great shots.. so when I got back to my house in Cyberjaya I had be told that he left the cable in Mlk!! Oh shit luck.. its ok its good that weng leong reminded me that some laptops are able to read XD cards so I got it read on my housemates laptop. I've edited all the photos but when I restarted my computer everything went wrong..

Turns out that one of my WINDOWS file is corrupted. I tried everything man.. from fixing my housemates cd-rom to my comp to fixing my hard disk to another housemate's computer to getting my housemates hardisk into my pc! I tried 2 windows XP disks, plug and unplugging.. and in the end I have to reformat my hardisk for the damn second time.. bloody hell!

In the end I got all my photos from my housemates laptop and loaded it to my roomate's bro's pc and I re edited everything again. So I guess I'll upload all the photos here..

Yet another Acoustic Gig

I'll only study after this.. haha.. seriously.. Anyway, last tuesday 19 oct, FMC had another acoustic gig for CF's final gathering for the 1st trimester 06/07. We were invited and we played the four same songs, please refer to my previous post on FOM BBQ nite. We played after DBS who were magnificent (they play Incubus' I miss you, 2 more songs which I can't recall the title). The vocalist had a great voice and I am amazed!

The crowd was really dissapointing.. it was a small gig but we performed without amps and mics so we had to play and sing loudly. Some people were making noise at the back of the room and we can hardly even hear what we are playing. Weiming was extremely pissed, angry, furious, sad, no mood and damn emo that night. He (susah payah)learnt how to play the le cajon (malay: Tin biskut Jacob's) but in the end his endeavour was not appreciated by the crowd. Just FYI ming, Lenard, Victor and I really appreciated your initiative to learn and play with us that night. You are the best, terbaik, second to none, immaculate, impecaable, perfect, cantik, menarik, tertarik, terbilang and Asia Bagus! I'd say. Back to the story, anyway, he damn emo and he NWA(niggaz with ATTITUDE) and walked home by himself.

anyway we didnt have anyone to take photos of us that day.. we have our photos taken but I don't know who to ask from.. cos I barely know anyone there. I do think CF is kinda fun with all the activities that they have to create a stronger bonds among youngsters and the number of chun girls are also another factor why going to CF is fun haha. But the highlight of the night was Victor and I (yet again dissapointed by the post performance treatment) pao all the food.. I paoed all the sandwiches and victor paoed the Twisties haha.

Here is a pic taken by VictorFrom (l-r): the two guitars that had to bear with us for 2 performances and yet they gave us the best sounds. Not to forget the tambourine that became our metronome that day and LASTLY, the "Marijuana-inspired-cajon-inspired-by-tin-biscuit-that-Jules-tried-to-break-again-and-again" Haha thats a long long name.

The whole FMC experience was/is/will be the best one! Nevertheless RHC was/is/will always in my heart and soul. I'll never forget my roots in music! heheh! Cheers to my musical brothers from different mothers!

OK!OK!OK!OK! I'll studyyy noowwww!

MALAYSIA ROCKS!
I will love you for the rest of my life

A Rice Pot and A Blunt Knife

When you only have a rice cooker at home.. there is nothing much that you can cook.. And I am freaking sick of looking for recipes in the internet that require a myriad of things do.. All I wanted was a simple recipe.. I've tried searching in google.com.my for "simple+recipes" and the recipes are still complicated. Furthermore most recipes are western food recipes so it requires a lot of cheese, salad dressing, beef bla bla bla..

After searching for so much.. I finally stumble upon http://babeinthecitykl.blogspot.com and I saw this post: the recipe for long bean rice which I have asked my parents opinion and modified
it abit to suit my situation: poor. haha.

So this is what I put into that pot of rice (this dish is fairly simple and only requires you to chuck everything in all at once and wait till the rice is cooked).

1. About three batangs of long beans cut into smaller pieces
2. Chinese sausages (how many? to your liking I'd say, I put just a little bit because it is fattening).
3. Chicken (I used drumstick in which I cut it into bite sized pieces)
4. Rice (I only cook for myself)
5. Water
6. Oyster sauce
7. Soya sauce
8. Ginger
9. Garlic

The ingredients seem so much but actually those are just really simple and basic stuff.
First off, I seasoned the chicken for about 3 hours cos I have too much time.. haha.. then when the chicken's ready, clean the rice, pour some water, put in the long beans, throw in the garlic and ginger (chopped into smaller pieces), pour some oyster sauce for taste and a little soya sauce for saltiness and the chicken all into the rice cooker. All you have to do now is just to wait for the 'cook' button to 'tack' and the rice will be ready. Oh yeah if you want to add in dark soy sauce to make the rice look darker.

This is how my long bean rice looks like. Its not dark cos I don't have dark soya sauce haha!

I had a real hard time trying to cut the chicken cos my knife is fucking blunt and I ended up using a pair of scissors to cut the meat into pieces. AND I don't have a chopping board so I was really frustrated.. but the rice turned out very well despite the fact it was less salty cos I didn't put enough oyster sauce (I think its because the taste of the oyster self is quite bland.. so I didnt know how much to put, seriously.. cos its made by my neighbour's sister.. she's trying to market her new brand.. haha it really ain't that nice compared to brands like lee kum kee or lee shun hing..

p/s: the picture was taken using my roomates Samsung d500 so the quality is quite poor..

Today marks the day that my blog are already viewed 1000 times.. hurrah! haha

Hot topic

I declare this month as the "Cintakan Malaysia" month where I'll post everything significant about Malaysians, what we like, what we do, and the rituals. Today I will talk about the traditional Malaysian activity: The rempet culture.

Rempet means riding on a motor bersama kawan kawan and ber'ram the engine' kaw kaw. Rempet somehow sounds like someone making a loud sound by excessively accelerating his/her motorbike. They are seen in large groups (approx. 20 people) and they exist to slow down the traffic and make Malaysia roads seem busy.

Their 'ride' varies but the famous ones being Suzuki RC sports (motor JPJ), Modenas Kriss 110, Honda EX5, or Yamaha SRX. Anything beyond those models are considered luxurius. They believe in cost-efficient logic, because most of them motor-pull all the time. One motorbike will be occupied by at least 2 person.

HOW TO IDENTIFY THEM WHEN THEY ARE: on the bike. It will be easier to explain if shown visually, so below are some pictures:
The stunt yang maut.
perempuan pun rempet
double wheely

HOW TO IDENTIFY THEM WHEN THEY ARE: not on the bike. Normally they'll carry their helmets along. Wear super tight jeans and big shoes. Skinhead or Azlee Senario style. T-shirt worn would most definitely have Stone Cold Steve Austin's pic, The Rock, Guns and Roses, Metallica, Search, or any similar kind of graphics. Very easily distinguishable. Merekalah kebanggaan Malaysia!

During Merdeka months they will be seen in very very very large (i repeat: VERY x3 large) group cruising on the streets with malaysia flags attached on their rides.

Final evolution
the anti rempit campaign

Hot Topic (Hot hot hot!)

(Jules: Perghhh Gila sial!)

Hah! Kalau tak MV tak "world"!

Hari hari pun Mawi!
